Holographic Chocolate?

Holographic chocolate - Morphotinix

Swiss company, Morphotonix, has created chocolate with holograms embedded in it, which can be added to the popular sweet without having any effect on the flavour.
The company states that they use microstructures imprinted from molds in the factory to create the illusions of stars and shapes on the top of each block. However, due to the chemistry of some types, holograms can not be imprinted on all chocolates.

Whilst the world is caught up in the announcement of Michael Jackson's hologram appearing at some music awards, I'm more interested in holographic chocolate. I think it's really interesting how far holographic technology has come; it isn't just something we see in sci-fi movies anymore.

We can now have (alleged) high-quality holograms of anything from full live music performances on a grand stage down to little star holograms on chocolate pieces. A new platform as essentially been created. Similar to how screens have created a new platform, holograms may potentially create a new way of communication, albeit probably less revolutionary.

In the near future you may see advertisements saying 'how to make the best of the hologram revolution' and see people walking not with touch-screen phones but with hologram smartphones. This may only be news about a chocolate, but it means we are one step closer to integrating holograms into everyday life. Oh, one can only hope.

Do you like the idea of a hologram revolution? Do you think one day you could Skype call someone and see their hologram pop up in front of you, or is it all just science fiction? Let me know in the comments.
